13th HLF – Highlights, Wednesday, September 16
Another day of the Heidelberg Laureate Forum has ended and we have collected some memorable moments in our "Snapshots" video above.
The Wednesday of the HLF featured a panel on "Careers in Academica, Industry, Start-Ups, and Beyond," discussing various career pathways for graduates in mathematics and computer science, followed by a variety of workshops for attending young researchers. While the panelists gave some insights into their career trajectories, they ultimately could agree on one idea: Don't worry too much about getting a decision right or wrong on working in academia, industry, teaching, or other areas; sometimes the experiences that look like detours are what make the next step possible.
After the coffee break, young researchers split off into a various workshops, all centered around building core career competencies, whether on "Future-Proofing Your Career," learning about "The Realities of Start-Ups," or practicing "How to Talk to Journalists."
The day closed out with attendees taking a leisurely boat cruise along the Neckar river followed by vivacious boat party against the backdrop of the historical old town of Heidelberg.
As always, select photos from this day can be found on our Flickr page.
