25 Years Klaus Tschira Foundation – 25 additional participants have the opportunity to attend the 8th Heidelberg Laureate Forum in 2021

This year marks 25 years of the German foundation Klaus Tschira Stiftung (KTS), which established the Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation (HLFF) in 2013. The KTS, one of the larger nonprofit foundations in Europe, supports the natural sciences, mathematics and computer science and the appreciation of these subjects.

To celebrate its anniversary, the KTS has considered a range of activities that benefit society in some way. The projects revolve around the number 25 and if possible, take place or at least begin this year. All actions are sponsored by the KTS and were initiated either by the KTS itself or by the institutes it founded or supports.

For example, the KTS has produced a film dedicated to its founder Klaus Tschira (1940–2015), who was also the creative mind behind the Heidelberg Laureate Forum. In addition, this fall it will be launching its first podcast series where people from different areas of society can discuss with one another.

The HLFF also has something special planned for the KTS anniversary year. Each year at the Heidelberg Laureate Forum, recipients of the most prestigious awards in mathematics and computer science network with selected young researchers from all over the world. The six-day conference and the extensive accompanying program are designed to facilitate the exchange between laureates and young researchers. Additionally, the HLFF provides travel grants every year to enable science journalists from all over the world to cover the HLF. Each year, 100 young researchers from mathematics and 100 from computer science backgrounds are invited to participate. At the 8th HLF, which has been rescheduled for September 2021, an additional 25 participants from mathematics, computer science and the media will have the opportunity to experience the inspiring atmosphere of the HLF.
