We would like to congratulate the 2020 ACM Prize in Computing recipient Scott Aaronson! Recognized as true pioneer in quantum computing, Aaronson had an instrumental role in developing the concept of quantum supremacy. He established many of the theoretical foundations used in experiments, which were able to produce reliable evidence that quantum computers are exponentially faster without the need of an impeccable machine to demonstrate it. Aaronson and his work have helped define the capabilities of quantum computers and helped distinguish hype from reality.
